Far Niente Chardonnay is a blend of superlative Napa Valley vineyards, located in Coombsville, a cool growing region nestled in the rolling countryside and protected by the hills east of the city of Napa. Coombsville offers the characteristic climate of Carneros, with less wind, along with deeper, well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils. The combination of these spectacular vineyards results in the subtle, tropical flavors, complex aromas and uncommon richness that have long been associated with Far Niente Chardonnay.

Director of Winemaking
In 2012, we returned to near perfect weather after several cool and challenging growing seasons. March saw heavy spring rains, giving the vines necessary hydration to help them through the season. We had ideal temperatures for budbreak, flowering and fruit set, and the summer months brought us seasonably warm days and cool nights. These conditions allowed the vines to set a large, but balanced, crop that steadily ripened until our Chardonnay harvest started in early September. Mother Nature held back on fall rains, enabling us to slowly bring in each block at optimal ripeness.
The 2012 vintage offers lively aromas of lemon and lime citrus zest, honeydew melon, wet stone and honeysuckle blossom. Bright upon entry with a silky texture through the mid-palate, this wine is focused and long with citrus and mineral flavors supported by integrated notes of oak. The finish is clean and refreshing.
