Late spring rains and a mild fall in 2019 created an excellent vintage with rich flavors.
The 2019 growing season began with late spring rains during flowering and fruit set. Cover crops between the vines flourished, putting rich nutrients into our soils. Our fruit set itself was lighter than usual, resulting in exceptional concentration and retention of flavor and aromas in our clusters. Mild fall temperatures allowed fruit to mature fully, without being overly tannic nor overly ripe. 2019 was an excellent vintage overall that will continue to impress wine lovers and collectors for years to come.
Club Cabernet
Far Niente’s Club Cabernet wine club was created for lovers of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
High temperatures meet cool breezes, crafting perfectly structured, ripe wines.
One of the northernmost AVAs, temperatures here can reach as high as 100 degrees. However, cool afternoon and evening breezes drawn in from the Pacific Ocean help reduce nighttime temperatures, resulting in wines with ripe fruit flavors and structure.
Harvested from Kenefick Vineyard
Planted on well-drained, alluvial soils at the base of Calistoga's Eastern hills, Kenefick Ranch produces vines of moderate vigor that yield loose clusters with small, concentrated berries. The loamy soil, western exposure, and the warmer upper valley climate of this westward-facing vineyard help us achieve optimal phenolic ripeness. The resulting wines consistently offer a mouthwatering combination of boysenberry and black cherry aromas with fresh fruit flavors that expand and coat the palate, along with density, layers of texture and a juicy finish.

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Kenefick Ranch captures all the savory, earthy personality of this great Calistoga site. Dried herbs, iron, spice, tobacco, incense and scorched earth lend notable complexity to this virile Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannings are a bit sinewy, but, then again, this is Kenefick Ranch. I would give the 2019 a few years to come together. It is a tremendously promising wine. ”
