2023 Bella Union Rosé, Napa Valley

2023 Bella Union Rose, Napa Valley

This wine entices from the glass with its pale rose-petal pink hue. Our Rosé is crafted using the Saignee method with limited skin contact. It was fermented in a mix of concrete eggs, stainless steel and neutral oak barrels. We refrained from any malolactic fermentation to preserve the fruit’s natural acidity. The resulting wine is bright and lively with wild strawberry notes framed by floral undertones all leading to a refreshing, bone-dry finish.

The 2023 season began with a cold winter, delayed budbreak, and bright flavors after August heat.

The 2023 growing season began with a cold, wet winter extending into early spring, bringing cooler temperatures and increased precipitation compared to recent years. This delayed budbreak, but mild weather through June supported careful vineyard development. The first 100°F day was on July 1st, and despite August warming trends, Growing Degree Days remained below the 20-year average, slightly delaying the harvest. Mild to moderate August temperatures created optimal conditions for bright and focused flavors.
