The 13-acre gardens that surround the historical Far Niente winery building came to life with the restoration of the property beginning in 1979. Flowering dogwoods and rhododendrons, towering redwoods, artful Japanese maples, brilliant azaleas and more now mingle with the sculptural oaks that were here when the Nickel family first arrived. Beth and Gil Nickel’s roots in the nursery business helped bring the land to life. With each passing year, the gardens evolve: trees mature, annuals nestle in new beds, colors and textures emerge and reemerge to enhance a familiar but ever-changing landscape with each season. From the long, ginkgo-lined drive to the shaded forest knoll surrounding the winery, the gardens reflect Far Niente’s passion for detail and heighten the senses, preparing visitors for the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Dolce they are about to taste. We would love to share the beauty of our gardens and wines the next time you are in Napa Valley. From May to November, we often schedule at least 6 weeks out, so please be sure to reserve your tour and tasting with plenty of advance notice.
