“Dark-fruited with a lovely perfume, depth of flavor and a mineral, volcanic feel, showing aromas of black and red currants, dried herbs, iron earth, wet stones and violets. The taut, focused palate offers precision, nerve and a silken, polished texture, supported by superfine tannins. From grapes grown at 1,800 feet in red volcanic earth. Excellent. Drink or hold.”

“This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was aged for 21 months in 55% new French oak. Fog Break Vineyard, located on Atlas Peak, comprises several blocks totaling approximately 4.8 hectares, set just southeast of Stagecoach Vineyard. Planted in classic red volcanic soils at elevations exceeding 365 metres, the vines struggle in this demanding environment, yielding small, intensely flavored berries. In 2023, the wine is fabulous – ripe and rich, yet marked by a slightly cooler profile of red berry fruit, a smart, minty freshness, and crushed volcanic mineral intensity. Sourced from a mix of blocks and vine ages across the site, the thoughtful blending of clones and parcels results in a harmonious, complete wine, combining floral brightness with the firm, mountain-born structure of the tannins. Long, fresh and inviting, this is a standout expression of the vintage.”
