2010 Dolce, Napa Valley

2010 Dolce, Napa Valley, Gift Box

Exclusive and exquisite, this 3-Liter of 2010 late harvest Dolce is tucked inside a lacquered box. Aromas of butterscotch and dried apricots enriched with subtle notes of nutmeg and caramel. Flavors of stone fruit, mostly apricot and peach, mingle with honeysuckle and the caramel character promised by the aroma. This wine’s sweetness is in balance with a mouthwatering acidity and its silky texture is present from the coating entry to its smooth and lengthy finish. This wine is concentrated with fruit flavors but its youthful expression is expected to develop inviting bakery aromas over time—warm brioche and crème brûlée descriptors are becoming evident already.

Early 2010 budbreak, delayed ripening, and Botrytis bloom led to a concentrated November harvest.

The 2010 growing season started with early budbreak in March. A cool, wet spring slowed development, delaying bloom and veraison. The warm, dry summer further delayed ripening, resulting in a low-yield crop that fully ripened by late September. Late October rain triggered significant Botrytis bloom throughout the vineyards. The harvest of beautifully concentrated fruit occurred over six passes from November 4 to 15, resulting in an exceptional vintage.
