Cave Collection wines are cellared in ideal conditions and released annually on allocation. Highly sought after and limited, the 2015 vintage has deep concentrated aromas of chocolate-covered cherries alongside bright floral notes. The entry of this wine is juicy with a silky-smooth texture that builds through the mid-palate. Mouthwatering dark cherry flavors are supported with well-integrated oak. This wine is an excellent balance of lush, mouth-filling tannins and bright, fresh acidity on the finish.

Despite challenging weather, 2014 produced concentrated flavors.

After a wet December, the new year began with a warm, dry January and minimal February rain. Early budbreak was followed by a cool, breezy spring, extending bloom and set, causing lower yields. The drought continued in summer with temperatures over 100 degrees in June, July, and August. The Cabernet harvest started early on September 12 and finished on October 1. Despite challenging weather and a small crop, concentrated flavors were captured at ideal ripeness.

Far Niente Cave Collection

Capturing a sense of place in Napa Valley’s famed Oakville.

Oakville is prized for its gravelly, volcanic soils, and enjoys the warmth of mountain-hugged valley and the cooling influence of the bay. These conditions combine to create Cabernet Sauvignons with elegant fruit flavors and supple tannins.

Harvested from Martin Stelling Vineyard

Situated behind Far Niente’s historic winery against the western hills of Oakville, this vineyard is named for Martin Stelling, the estate’s previous owner, who presided over what was considered the most extensive, elite vineyard in the world, including most of modern-day Oakville. Known for its richness and structure, yet remarkable finesse, both Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel source from Stelling to craft their stunning Cabernets. Surrounded by the famed To Kalon, Martha’s Vineyard, and Harlan Estate, this historic vineyard began its latest replanting in 2022 with the guidance of renowned consultants Thomas Rivers Brown and Garrett Buckland to ensure it remains a pinnacle of Napa Valley winemaking.

“Aromas of currant, chocolate, mushroom and earth follow through to a full body, yet it’s fresh and resolved with tannins that have melted nicely into the wine. Shows a brightness and clarity for the vintage. Secondary character coming through. Drink now or hold.”
