Early budbreak and perfect summer weather led to a mid-August Pinot Noir harvest, finishing with Sebastopol Hills' cooler sites.
Early budbreak and near-perfect summer weather allowed us to start picking Russian River Pinot Noir in mid-August. Our Amber Ridge vineyard in the warmer middle reach area was first, followed by Green Valley and Laguna Ridge sites in late August. A Labor Day heat wave accelerated the harvest, continuing across the Russian River Valley. We finished the season with fruit from the cooler Sebastopol Hills neighborhood, completing a successful and well-timed harvest.

Our path to discover wines of finesse rivaling Burgundy’s best.
Russian River Valley is revered for its lush, rolling topography, fertile soils and proximity to the Pacific Coast. Nurtured by cool marine breezes and sun-warmed afternoons, the region is home to some of the world’s most sought-after Pinot Noir.
Harvested from Northern Spy Vineyard
Northern Spy Vineyard’s 17.5 acres of double-Guyot-trained vines are rooted in the region’s famous Goldridge sandy loam soils, comprised of weathered sandstone and granite, with a fine, almost powder-like topsoil. Located in the Green Valley area of the Southwest corner of the Russian River Valley, this vineyard enjoys very cool nights and mornings. Fog typically covers the vineyard from 6:00 p.m. until about 11:00 a.m. during the summer months. Daytime temperatures typically hover in the low-to-mid 80s, creating vines that have intensely concentrated, small berries.
