Our Russian River Valley wine harvest started early this week!
On the eve of our 2020 harvest, EnRoute Winemaker Michael Accurso penned this letter to all of our teams here at EnRoute and at the Far Niente Family of Wineries & Vineyards. We wanted to share his compelling, uplifting words with all of our winery family and friends.
Dear EnRoute and Far Niente Family,
As I sit here in Sebastopol looking outside to see rain, lightning, and the clattering of thunderclouds over our Russian River vineyards, I think how appropriate to call this day harvest eve. If we know one thing about the infamous 2020 year, it is to expect the unexpected.
Tomorrow we will be bringing in our first fruit of the year: Pinot Noir from the Bucher Vineyard located in the middle reach of Russian River Valley. With an early start to the growing season coupled with a mid-August heat spell we are lining up to start our Russian River harvest earlier than ever here at EnRoute. The good news is that the grapes are looking and tasting fantastic.
Here’s to another vintage of amazing Russian River Pinot Noir and another harvest to talk about for years to come.
Salud!
