Take a Napa Valley Road Trip with Nickel & Nickel

Carneros
The valley is quietest in the morning, and it's coolest down south. That's where we begin, down in Carneros, where the fog rolls off the bay and the breeze never really stops. It's the reason this Chardonnay tastes the way it does.

Truchard Vineyard sits on volcanic ash and rock. Cool and slow to ripen, the fruit holds its acidity all the way to harvest. Whole-cluster pressed, barrel-fermented, with no malolactic fermentation. What's left is white peach, pear blossom, a line of citrus, and a finish with genuine energy.

Oakville
By the time the car reaches Oakville, the day has warmed up — and so has the wine. This is the generous middle of the valley. Warm mornings, warm afternoons, a long hang time — the kind of sun that shows up in the glass.
