From the outset, this is one powerful, deeply expressive Cabernet with heady black currant, plum, and cedar aromas leading into a big, juicy entry. Layered currant and black cherry flavors are accented by elegant clove notes. Bold, coating tannins support and frame the entire wine, and hints of wet slate add dimension to a dark, brooding finish.

The 2021 drought and mild summer led to small, flavorful grapes, and high-quality wine.
The 2021 growing season began under drought conditions with little winter rain. A dry spring and windy May led to early budbreak and bloom. Mild summer months with few heat spikes allowed slow ripening, resulting in small but intensely flavored grapes. As harvest approached, the quality remained excellent, with vineyard flavor intensity carrying through to the winery. This outstanding season yielded high-quality, flavorful grapes, marking 2021 as a remarkable year for the vineyards.
Club Cabernet
Far Niente’s Club Cabernet wine club was created for lovers of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Where cool breezes shape elegant and supple wines.
Named after George C. Yount, one of the first frontiersmen to plant grapevines in the valley, wines from Yountville are often elegant and supple, thanks to its southerly position, where cool breezes and fog are a constant presence.
Harvested from State Ranch
State Ranch is located northeast of the town of Yountville. The 23-acre vineyard is divided into two parcels by State Lane Road and consists of both older and younger vines. Many excellent wines are produced in this area, in part due to the rocky, loam soil, which has excellent drainage throughout the year. The vines, as well as the clusters, are moderate in size and the vineyard gets full sun throughout the day. As the young vines mature, we will be harvesting many different clones to make the final wine. Nickel & Nickel selects fruit from 11 acres of the vineyard.

“Outstanding balance and complexity from the beginning that showcases concentrated black fruits and purple flowers with plenty of spices and subtle yet harmonious toast and cedar aromas. Intense graphite and stony minerality, too. Full- to medium-bodied on the mid-palate with delightful acidity that gives this wonderful crunchiness. Fine-grained juicy tannins. Precisely focused wine that is colorful and sound. Beautiful length, too. Already so drinkable now but will age gracefully, especially for Atlas Peak. Try after 2027.”
