Superlative barrels from our favorite vineyards, the 2021 Far Niente Chardonnay, Coombsville showcases the delicate and layered aromas that make Coombsville special. Opening with seductive aromas of floral, melon, vanilla, and honeysuckle with hints of lemon and citrus. On the palate, a bright entry is accented by an oily and silky texture up front with great structure and length. Notes of light wet stone and a beautiful minerality persist on the finish.

A dry spring and mild summer in 2021 produced small, intensely flavored grapes and exceptional wine.

The 2021 growing season started with very little rain for the second consecutive year. A dry, warm spring led to early budbreak and bloom. Mild summer months with few heat spikes allowed slow ripening, producing small but intensely flavored grapes. Chardonnay harvest began in late August, with moderate fall temperatures permitting a steady harvest throughout September, ending just before the month's end. The intense vineyard flavors carried through to the winery, resulting in exceptional finished wine.

Slow, even ripening for soft tannins and rich flavors.

Moderated by its proximity to the San Pablo Bay, Coombsville experiences less severe heat spikes for long, slow and even ripening. Wines from this region often show soft tannins, dark black fruits and refreshing acidity.

“All fresh apples and pastry spices in the nose, this opulent but not obvious wine brings on layers of cream, toast, ginger and poached pears with each sip. The complexity and concentration are impressive, and the finish lingers nicely.”
